About Me

A friend once told me that you can own a business, or a business can own you.  I got my start in the mid 1990's with the purchase of a small flower shop.  I knew nothing about running a business, I only knew that I wanted to work for myself.  I learned pretty quickly that it required a lot more than just the ability to create pretty flower arrangements - that was the fun part!  The hard part was the bookkeeping side -- learning how to manually process paychecks, track sales tax, file revenue reports, and payroll taxes, for starters.  I worked 6-7 days a week, every week.  This business owned me, but I really learned a lot.

Over the years I have managed other businesses and found that I really enjoy the details of bookkeeping.  It can oftentimes be a bit like solving a puzzle, and the satisfaction comes from every piece fitting into place.
